Gamescom 2013

Gamescom was the biggest event we've attended so far. We demoed Cascade on Oculus and OUYA as well as the unreleased Vs mode of Amazing Frog. It was brilliant to have so many people play test it for us including some of the incredible Clark team. We're now working on tuning the weapons, as well as tweaking the level layouts for better play.

We were also shocked and honoured to win Ukie's uk game of the show with Cascade. Its a fantastic and moving project to work on, I'm glad the project has be recognised and I hope this helps alzheimer's research and charities even further.

The amazing trophy was hand made buy the awesomely talented guys at FatPebble

Cascade look and feel update

Here are some screens of the updated look of our game Cascade. After Gaz build more of the simulation it became clear we needed an overall darker background to focus players on the important gameplay objects. Viewing the project with Oculus has also been a great way to experience and critique things. It allows us to step inside and explore the models in such a different way, as if exploring them architecturally.

E3 and OUYA park!

We had an 'amazing' ;) time at OUYA park! It was a great opportunity to hang out with great Devs and show the public what Amazing frog and the Ouya are all about!

OUYApark E3 car park Los Angeles

To immortalise the event and my first E3 I decided in the Amazing Frog way to build a replica for everyone to visit. Hopefully when we get time we'll have some playable games within the game! Also lookout for retail OUYA boxes hidden around.

OUYA Reveal Event

The main reason we went to GDC13 was because as ‘Leet’ backers we were invited to the OUYA Reveal event (and we wanted our OUYA swag!!). The party was great! open bar, free food and best of all playable OUYAs hooked up to the ‘just launched’ store. We’d only submitted the binary the day before but amazingly the team at OUYA had managed to get it on there. Naturally we had to install and give it a play test. Afterwards people continued to play for a while up on the big screen, a surreal but awesome experience. Theres a quick video we slapped together here where you can see some of the fun!

GDC13 Recap

GDC was a blast, my first big gaming event and first time displaying any of our games. There was a great atmosphere in the GDC Play area, we met a load of great people and made some amazing contacts.  Sadly we only managed to get one of our games playable enough to show fully, but thankfully it was the game we’d branded our booth with. We’ll be back next year for sure, and hopefully this time I’ll actually be able to go to some of the talks :)

Heres an in-game recreation of our booth, complete with OUYAs, stickers and ‘new’ photo wall. So anyone who missed us at GDC can visit by playing Amazing Frog!

Environment for our ‘Create’ game jam submission

Only having 10 days to create a game was a big challenge. I had to cut a lot of corners in the 3d modelling but learnt a lot from doing so. Building everything in a modular fashion allowed me to piece together and modify the test level quickly. Once I had created the tile set, it was easy to re-skin them and create a library of tiling textures we could drop and drag. Then it was on to making smaller assets we could use to dress the scene. I’m looking forward to adding to this library of items for other themed rooms in the mansion.
